Does laser hair removal really work?
Yes, laser hair removal is the most effective form of permanent hair reduction. Removing 95% of total hair by damaging the underlying follicles. At home devices that utilize IPL and Diodes do not provide permanent results. These at home devices do not have FDA approval or clinical literature to support their efficacy. Experts typically point to as little as a 50% temporary reduction. At CLEO, we put our money where our mouth is and provide free touch ups to our guests that complete 8 treatments.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
No! With Cleo, laser hair removal is finally stress-free. Most people find waxing and tweezing to be far more painful. With this being said, everyone experiences discomfort differently and your provider will work with you to minimize any discomfort through cryo and other techniques.
Does laser hair removal work on dark skin?
At Cleo, laser hair removal is absolutely safe & effective on darker skin. Technology has advanced significantly over the past decade. We use the GentleMax Pro Plus, which uses two different lasers - the Alexandrite for lighter skin tones and the Nd:YAG for darker skin tones.
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal uses a concentrated beam of light to gently remove unwanted hair. During the treatment, the light emitted by the laser is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, creating heat. The heat then damages the hair follicles that are located right beneath the skin and prevents or delays them from future hair growth.
Hair follicles are responsible for producing new strands of hair so destroying them results in the hair follicle’s loss of production. Precision lasers can effectively target the hair follicle while leaving the surrounding skin untouched. After the treatment, any remaining hair or regrowth is finer and usually lighter than the original hair.
What should I know before my laser hair removal treatment?
We recommend shaving the day before your treatment. While there needs to be enough hair follicle to absorb the energy needed for hair removal, it should not be too long as this may cause the laser to be too widely dispersed or cause the hair to burn. Waxing and plucking should be avoided for at least six weeks. You should also avoid the sun and refrain from tanning before your appointment. This can result in pigmentation issues in the areas being treated.
